Uganda: Closing the Housing Gap Spotlight on Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono

Presented by The Property Show

Uganda’s housing deficit currently stands at 2.4 million units, with the demand particularly concentrated in urban centers such as Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono. The capital city, Kampala, continues to experience high urban migration, putting immense pressure on the already strained housing market.

Over 96% of Ugandans cannot afford the average cost of a formally built house, which is estimated at UGX 183 million. Despite an increasing number of high-end developments, most low- to middle-income earners remain underserved.

At The Property Show, we aim to bridge this gap by connecting developers with prospective buyers and investors, showcasing affordable housing projects and alternative financing options. Our exhibitions feature a range of properties from entry-level homes in Bweyogerere to modern apartments in Naalya and investment plots in Gayaza all tailored to meet Uganda’s growing and diverse housing demand.

Through collaborative efforts with government agencies, Real estate developers, and financial institutions, The Property Show is championing the shift toward sustainable, inclusive housing solutions in Uganda.
